OK, let's kick-off with the Season 10 Sign-up. Sorry for being a bit inactive lately, I've had a lot of chewy stuff on my real-life plate lately. Related to this, I'm probably (80 % chance) have to take a summer break from NUL but I'm in for the season 10.
So let's start the sign-up for Season X of NUL! You should know the drill by now, let us know:
1) if you're in for the season 10
2) and if you'd prefer using a previous team or starting a new team.
I'll probly continue with the darkie elfs.
Here's the official stuff:
PRELIMINARY TIMETABLE FOR SEASON 9
- ALL WANTING TO PLAY SEASON 10 SHOULD SIGN-UP IN THIS THREAD BY MARCH 15TH!
- League structure will be decided during week 11 by the March 17th.
(NOTE that we might get delayed by a week or so due to the forum down-time)
- League will be played with normal 1 match week per 1 real-time week pace.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR NEW COACHES:
1: Create an account on this forum. Note that due to high activity from spam-bots, admins have to approve your account before you can post here. This shouldn't take longer than a day.
2: Post a reply in this thread that you want to join.
3: Read the "Essential rules" section HERE (http://norscaleague.com/index.php?topic=65.0) and post a reply in that thread that you have understood the rules.
4: The admin team will add you on the participant list in this post.
And as per last season, we will have to see how many participants we will be before deciding how to construct the season. These will be the basic guidelines:
- New coaches will naturally start with fresh teams.
- Old and ancient coaches may use their "old" Valhalla or Ulls (season 4 or earlier) teams, fish-seasoned (seasons 5 through 9 teams or fresh teams.
- Depending on the ratio of new/old teams, there may be Team Value (TV) limit for old teams.
- If there are lots of new teams, they will be divided into league/division of their own so that they won't get trampled by the veteran teams.
NOTE that as discussed in this thread (http://norscaleague.com/index.php?topic=395.0), we'll be enforcing the rule that if you don't show up to play a game on agreed time, you'll forfeit the game with an 2-0 admin loss to your opponent who is waiting for you.
Coaches/teams signed up for season 10:
- J-Reedy - Finned Marine Mammals (DElf)
- Hakos - Getingarna (human but not humane) / Opa Gangnam Style (Necro) / new team
- Mr. B. - new team
- Kerrai - new team
- Barmution - Mad Science Fair (ChaD)
- Lars - Chaotic Dudes (Chaos) / new team
- Kvasilad - The Partly Animals (WElf) / Disorganized Dudes (Chaos) / new team
- Gnaarkill - Warpstoned Maniaks (Skaven)
- Johoohno - new team
-
Ah, seems the forum is up and running again. Good
I will join season 10. I have 3 options, currently they are equal in my eyes but I will decide during next week.
1) Getingarna, Human, TV = 1650
2) Opa Gangnam Style, Necromantic, TV = 1360
3) New team, Probably some kind of elfs, TV = 1000
I'm almost certain that Gurgeh want's to join season 10 as well, will let him know that he can sign up now.
/Hakos
Nice, board is up again, I thought I was being punished for winning...
I will sadly not be able to join this season. I have a very busy couple of months ahead of me and will have a hard time fitting this into me shedual. I will be back though, so don't get too cocky :P
I will try a new team for s10
New to the League and the Forum
So i would like to join up with a fresh team.
Welcome to Norsca! ;D
I'm going full on Chaos Dorf for this season too, the Mad Science Fair ain't done with y'all yet!
I'm in for season 10, but I haven't decided what team to bring yet. Could be a new one, or any of my two previous teams (The Partly Animals, Disorganized Dudes).
I did not much like the divided structure of season 9, I must admit. Playing three other teams twice over was a little bit too much. If there's any way to bring it back to one big division this time around, I'll be happy to roll a new team or take TV cuts on my old ones to make it work.
We will see how many we can bring, but thanks for the input it is important when deciding s10.
Hello guys!
Nice to see that the forum is back online. Havent had the chance to say Congratulations to the champ of Season 9. Congratulations almighty The Golden Arrow!
Welcome to Norsca, Kerrai. Nice to see a new coach!
Im pumped for the next season, sign me up! I have a feeling that the championship trophy is as good as mine this season, haha ::)
Warpstoned Maniaks signing in!
/Gnaarkill
Hi
I am in for Season 10
and I perfer to continue with my Chaos team but can start with a fresh one if thats the will of the majority
/Lars
Hi there, guys.
I'll have to sit this one out, I'm graduating in 3 months, I have lots of work to do and a tight schedule until August (it will probably get tighter by then :D).
Good luck to all participants, I'll catch you some other season.

Good luck with that, mate!
Al right, so what do we do.
We are only 5 so far... :-\

I think that I am not in your counting so we should be 6

I counted to 8 which seems to be a good number, although the first post is not updated with Kvasilad, Lars and Gnaarkill
/Hakos
I don't really see a huge problem with being only 6. Single division, 5 games each, and a final for the two top dogs perhaps?
We should perhaps have a reasonably low TV limit for old teams to allow for new ones, but I'm not sure exactly what that limit should be... 1400? 1500?
I think I want in too! I'll bring a new team (my old one from season -insert low number- has retired).
And now we are getting somewhere, nice to see you all :)
Participant list updated, right now we're at 9 teams. So 1 more coach would be nice.
Hakos, how about Gurgeh, any news on him?
Looks like majority of the coaches will be playing with new teams, so we should probably set a quite low TV limit for old teams because I think one big group would be the most enjoyable format.

I agree that one large group would be the best so I will not play Getingarna. Which means it is either the necros or a new team for me. Right now I'm leaning towards the necros but it will depend on what limit you set. I do not want to cut my team down too low, then I would prefer to start a new one.
Talked to Gurgeh early in the week and thought that I had convinced him but now he is travelling abroad during the weekend without signing in here so I think he has decided not to join. :(
/Hakos
Crap, I'll check my resources but I hardly think they have time for it.
OK, here are the current team values of old teams that may/could be participating:
- J-Reedy - Finned Marine Mammals (DElf) - 1050 (980 in first match because of injury), 110K in money, 10 players
- Hakos - Opa Gangnam Style (Necro)- 1360, 90K in money, 13 players
- Barmution - Mad Science Fair (ChaD) - 1430, 170K in money, 12 players
- Lars - Chaotic Dudes (Chaos)- 1590, 110K in money, 12 players
- Kvasilad - The Partly Animals (WElf) - 1290, 195K in money, 9 players
- Gnaarkill - Warpstoned Maniaks (Skaven) - 1200 (1090 in first match because of injuries), 85K in money, 12 players
I also listed the money and number of players on roster because those affect the TV that the TV difference calculation is based on. For example, my Marine Mammals will have to freeboot to get to 11 players, so my "true" TV will be 1050+70=1120. As to the money, I have enough money for a witch elf, so my maximum TV I could achieve at the moment would be 1050+110=1160.
So, what would be the suitable TV limit for old teams, any opinions? I was thinking 1300 might be fair but that might be too hard for some of the old teams to get under. So would 1400 be too much?
I'm fine with a high TV as long as I can buy neat inducements - which ones are allowed?
I was considering 1200 to 1300 as a fair limit. 1400 sounds a tad bit too much for my taste but I could of course live with it. Probably more interesting to hear what the coaches playing new teams prefer.
By the way, let's say we set the limit to 1300, I kick two useless zombies, get down to 1280 and sign on to the league. Then just before the first match I buy a ghoul for 70k and ends up with 1350 for the first match. Would that be ok? Even if I wait to the second match I still have a bonus of the 90k gold. So should I make sure to go down to 1230 instead?
I.e. what does a limit mean, is it a league sign on limit or a limit for the first match and/or a limit including possibilities?
/Hakos
Hi, my version is that it really doesn't matter what TV we have.
As we have inducements, though a new team will have problems facing teams with tv 600+ higher.
And of course other teams will suffer more than others.
Next problem is that I have no problem with this, new players could find a mission impossible facing teams that has twice or more skills.
As I do not bother but find it more fun stealing points from the bigger teams I'll not comment this more than put yourself in your opp shoes.
And next problem is that we would like to be able to run teams and continue with them, so feel free.
I'll understand you all, if I would have a little more fun with the khemri I'd go with those but no.
I think I'll play Goblins between, feel free to pick what YOU think would bring fun, new or old teams, the important thing is to enjoy the roller coaster.
Well, I'm biased, as I would love to play The Partly Animals, but I cannot get them under 1300 without letting my wardancers go. So for purely selfish reasons, I would say 1400 is a good limit. I would still have to cut my thrower, or my treeman, but that's something I can live with. Based on the other experienced teams, 1400 seems a better fit as well.
I can understand that it might seem a bit high for fresh teams, so if the majority wants a lower TV limit, I'll just roll a new team. Been wanting to try orcs for a while anyway.

That's a good point... I would think limit including possibilities is a bit too restrictive. It's not going to be completely "fair" either way of course. But the most problematic thing about facing high-TV teams as a fresh team is deadly skill combinations, not necessarily just all the positionals. After all, spending money can only get you rookies.
The problem is that we're going to have this conondrum everytime we get new players, so do we really want to set precedent that we reroll whenever we recruit? I just want to stick to a team for at least a couple of seasons to get a feel for it, but as Hakos said: I think it's really up to wether or not the new guys view it as a problem. If they want to have a go with inducements, that opens up a couple of interesting rosters too, eg. all types of Elves with a lot of positionals but few RRs as you can induce that, etc.
Just my two cents,
-Barm

As said above, I don't mind a high TV cap as long as there are neat inducements available - which one will you allow?
Star players?
Loner substitutes?
Wizards?
Extra rerolls?
Reduction of opponent rerolls?
Reduction of opponents move?
Master chef?
Bribes?
Bloodweiser babes?
Potions?
Standard inducements, ie. all of the above except reduction of RR and move, and the potions (that are WILDLY overpowered, btw ;) )
Yes, my friends did not have the time.
How do we get on with it?
Or, I take a break and then we have 8 players, kicking it of directly.
So we get Going! ;D
So on we are then
NUL: Feeder Camp
8 players
1 game a week
One game vs the others
7 week league.
PassW: nul
Join in!
Did we actually agree on TV limit? Or is there none? Or did we conclude that 1400-ish is okay?
Anyway, I'll enter The Partly Animals when I get back this evening, and make necessary cuts if needed.
I'll enter the Mad Science Fair tonight too, finally time for kick-off! ;D
Yes would be intressting to know if we agreed to a TV cap so I can adjust a bit before applying for the league
/Lars
I think a limit of 1500 TV should allow most viable current teams to join in, counting journeymen you need to get to 11 players, but not counting bankroll. It seems like the consensus is that it's really not that big of a deal given inducements and all.
Okej I kicked one player down at 1490 in TV

Hey B. If you don't have any particular reason for taking a break, I could volunteer as the break-taker. I know that in next couple of months I'll have at least two weeks ahead where I'll have hard time finding enough time for a Blood Bowl game, so I don't mind the break at all. I can still take care of the match thread stuff at Mondays. Let me know.
As to the TV limit, let's go with the suggested 1500 this seaso but maybe we could also announce that the next, 11th season, will have no TV limits so you can bring your biggest killing machines and scoring wonders onto the field. That cool with everybody?
Also, what are the odds that everyone on the list actually pays attention and signs up within a reasonable amount of time? :D
That's OK J-Reedy I can join the fray.
Thanks for the work btw your the king in here! 8)
Regarding TeamValue 1500 sounds ok, and no-limit 11!! sounds interesting indeed.
Good one J-R.
So eight companions getting ready are we?
What is killing a site, it's no action.. so lets start kicking heads and bowls Lets Get It ON!
Great, I'll sign in my team tonight when I'm at my gaming computer.
By the way: are all coaches on Stockholm time? I do have a few days planned absence during the Easter holiday (April 3 - 7), but otherwise I don't see any obstacles being chomped, stomped or brutally swamped in the evenings.
I'm looking forward to this league and will take an hour or two thinking of what team I'll make for it.
Warpstoned Maniaks signing in! ;D
LETS GET IT ON! 8)

4 Teams are IN! ;D

Cool, only Hakos and Kerrai left to sign up.
Ooops, sorry for holding up the start but Opa Gangnam Style has now signed in as the last team.
Noted that our new coach Kerrai is leading by example and plays in the team as well. Cool.
hehe, nice and kerrai singed up long ago.
Nice folks,
ALL ABOARD!
Next stop: Paintown!
