Quite a daring move, IMHO, to recruit a dwarf into an elf team, even a tall adopted one. But I'm sure Captain Carrot will do fine.

Congratulations once again, Luiggi! 5 championships in 6 seasons, that's more than impressive. So I guess you'll really be putting the shame on rest of us next season as you're planning on winning the league with goblins  ;)

Opinions much appreciated Luiggi, Kvasi and Kez. Yeah, block may be the safer route to go. Of course all this is speculation, it all depends on the so many factors like schedule and rolls but I'm guessing block is the way to go with basic rolls.

BTW, "Kauppapiston Opet", that's "Business Institute Teachers" for all you not familiar with that beautiful language called Finnish.

OFFICIAL BULLETIN

ALL RIGHT FOLKS! Season 17 is now officially over and I kicked all those bloated teams from the Nul: Feeder league. So you can start putting in your fresh rookie teams, the password is the familiar "campnul". The league is now 12 teams but we can expand that if nescessary so all new and oldcomers are still welcome!

The deadline for signing in the teams will be Sunday the 14th as we'll be aiming to kick-off on the 15th.

Just constructed the first draft of Da Beatmores roster. I really haven't given these guys much thought as I've had an aversion against them but really seem to be very average as Luiggi said. Blitzers and their progression looks like the key factor. Lots of options for starging roster, but I think I'm going to go for 4+4 blitzers/bobs with 3 rerolls without apo. It's curious that it looks like these guys really don't seem to need linemen so much and I'm even giving though to a starting roster with troll and bunch of gobbos instead of linos. But that might be too risky.

One question about your opinion on the skill progression, Luiggi/Kvasilad, if you don't mind. Looking at the overall team skill set, I'm getting the feeling that guard might be a good choice as a first skill for BOBs instead of block. Or does that slow their proggression down too much in your experience? When I've played against orcs bobs have most of time seemed to be more like roadblocks than serious threat, so I'm thinking guard could be more usefull for them to support the blitzers.

All righty, as the S17 Finals will be played today (7.12.), I guess we can declare Monday December 15th as the preliminary kick-off date for season 18. We'll get the league set up early next week after the final and everybody should get their team in by Sunday the 14th. But let's not set the date in stone, it's December and folks might be running errands for Sandy Claws, so we'll be flexible with the dates if nescessary.

Right now we have 11 sign-ups but we haven't still heard about Mueller or Gurgeh so it could be that we get to 12 or more. I'll also message all registered members a reminder about new season tomorrow.

And finally, about my team. I think I'll be playing with a race that I've only played one half and that was my first ever learning game of Blood Bowl. I've never liked this race much but they have one strength that I'm looking for, so after numerous seasons of av 7 teams I'm going for the high armor and taking... the orcs. So if nobody else will be taking the orcs, the Da Beatmores led by the Fab Four will make their debut into NUL.

Here's the sign-up list once again so that people won't have to go to the first page of thread to check it:
Sign Ups:
1. Kvasilad - The Phin Phighters (Lizardmen)
2. Equilibri - World of Cheese (Skaven)
3. J-Reedy - Da Beatmores (Orcs) - might change if somebody else takes the orcs (as I'm a proponent for diversity with the teams)
4. Mr B - ? (Vampires)
5. The Golden Arrow - ? (Dark Elfs maybe)
6. Kezerk - Kauppaopiston Opet (Vampires)
7. Gnaarkill - Ogre Kingdoms Wrestling Federation (Ogre)
8. Barmution - The Emperor's New Boots (Human)
9. Hakos - FC Excelsior (High Elfs)
10. Lars - ? (Chaos Dwarfs)
11. Luiggi - ? (Goblins)
12. Muller71 - Beerbelly (Dwarfs)
13. ... your name and team here! ...

Here we haves it! The Final! Or Da Final in orkish! And this year, it's pure bullish chaos with two star minotaurs with their supporting cast going at each other. Once again, congratulations to the finalists and play on!

CEO Gnaarkill hereby assigns the Ogre Team - Ogre Kingdoms Wrestling Federation (OKWF) to the Norsca Union League.

Hmm.... Chief Executing Ogre?

Very nice write-up, Gnaarkill, it's always nice to read your texts!

Just spectated the first half of the B-men semifinals, I'm betting Mr. B is extremely frustrated right now. The short chaos folk are putting on a serious hurting and getting all the (armor) breaks. None of the regeneration rolls succeeded so the first half ended with 2 undead left on the field, 4 were in the injury box - one of them a mummy - and 5 KO'd. 2 KOs were left in the dugout for the second half - one of them the +st wight.

Off to bed now so no time to watch the rest of the match but congratz to the winning B-man, whichever that end ups being (although the goblin bookies of the Wiseguy Bookmaking and Limb Rearrangement Inc have Barm-man as 9 to 1 favourite in the live betting).

And I think I'm close to earning the "Most SPP Buried on the Graveyard" award for this season with my star thrower biting the dust in the waning moments and joining my start receivers and bezerker, so at least I have some success to show for this season!

Had to check this one: 185 spp in the graveyard from six players so try and beat that one! I bet you can't do that!  ;)

Thanks for the game Luiggi, bit of a frustrating match for me but that's the way it rolls (see what I did there?  ;D) sometimes. The three injuries on the first turn really set the pace and the final blow was that perfect defence on the second half. And I think I'm close to earning the "Most SPP Buried on the Graveyard" award for this season with my star thrower biting the dust in the waning moments and joining my start receivers and bezerker, so at least I have some success to show for this season! Oh, did I mention that I WON'T BE TAKING A FREAKING AV7 TEAM NEXT SEASON! But no (other) complaints here, you played well and deserve the finals spot. So gratz and good luck in the finals!

I'll be writing a season recap sometime during next week, I've lots of ideas brewing as long work days has kept me away from the write-ups. But now the deadline for the biggie project that is keeping my ship of inspiration at bay is looming on Wednesday, so you can be expecting some over-flowing and puffed-up season roundup around that time. Be afraid, be very afraid.... ;D

I'd rather play on Friday or Sunday, let's write again once the weekend approaches.

Okay, I now have more info about the weekend. It seems that I should be able to play on (CET/Gmt+1):
Friday starting from 19 onwards till late
Saturday all day
Sunday 18.30-20.00

Let me know if any of those suits you, sir.

Friday at 19.00 sounds fine, I'll see you tomorrow. We'll get to know the finalists that very same evening!

Yep, see you later, colanator,

Unfortunately all those times are taken, I finish work at 21.30 from Monday to Thursday and I usually can't reserve enough time for the match (and being play-offs, chances are there can be extra turns). I'd rather play on Friday or Sunday, let's write again once the weekend approaches.

The other semifinal can't be played until Friday anyway :)

PS: This is one bashy playoff.

Yep, I'll let you know about the weekend when I get a clearer picture.

Bashy? Why, what do you mean? Just because there are 2 players with Claw+MB and 17 others with MB in four teams that traditionally thrive on on getting opposing players off the field doesn't mean that there'll be bashing. I'm sure Bantha is planning on making cunning agility plays with the mummies and Barm-man is right now feverishly trying to come up with a plan how to keep his dwarfs away from opposing players and making surgical elf-like blitz strikes.

Let me know if any of those suits you, sir. More about the weekend days later, if nescessary.

And so it begins...

...and there can be only one. Or two. After this round, I mean. Then there can be only. But now two... Which will then be one. I'm talking of teams here, if you didn't catch it. Or winners actually. Yes, there can be only one winner! Or two actually... In this round. But after that there can be only one winner. Yes! After this round has been played, there can be only one winner! I think that's it.
