Title: Season 9 - DAY 1 MATCHES
Post by: J-Reedy on December 12, 2012, 06:07:23 AM
And here are the matchups for the week 1. The deadline for the week will be flexible as we got a mid-week start. So try to get the matches played by Wednesday next week at the latest but let's aim for getting the week over by Monday so we can get to normal Monday schedule.

Here are the Feeder matchups:

And here's Ull:

Howdy-ho Luiggi! I'm still trying to get a grasp of the idea of Ogre wizard. I guess all those apprentices must be named Spell... I mean that should make casting Spells easy for them big wizards. Well, I guess I'll see the spectacle closeup quite soon. How about following CET/UTC+1 start times?

- Thursday 18-20
- Friday 19-22
- Saturday 10-22
- Sunday 14-19

One of the weekend days might get crowded but if you book a time soon, I should be able to plan around it.

Let the race for not being "that team" in Feeder division begin! :D

A middle-of-the-day-ish game on Saturday or Sunday would be good for me, other than that it's going to have to be after the weekend I'm afraid.

Middle of the day on saturday should work. I have exams, but can take a break pretty much whenever to play.

And as I just said I have exams next week, so my time is not that plentyful (Hakos). I guess I could play thursday, friday or saturday night, but that's just because I'm such a good guy :P

Yo Gnaarkill!

It's a speed vs brute force contest for us on matchday 1. Could I tempt you with playing tomorrow at around 20.00-21.00 GMT+1/CET? If not we're looking at either Sunday or Monday. Let me know.

That was some crazy match. Ogracadabra pull it off with an enormous amount of luck. Snotlings showed titanium armor while the elves were massacred. With 2 dead elves (lineman and blitzer) in a single turn, even the snotlings managed to score casualties (1 sideline push resulting in death and one badly hurt in the second half). I was forced to blitz the ogre ball carrier free and Albus Dumbledogre scored the first touchdown by turn 8. Second half was hellish for J as I scored casualties and KO's all game long, resulting in a drive where every elf that trespassed my half resulted in KO or casualty. With only 3 elves on the pitch, he went for the desperate play and managed to score the 1-1 with 2 turns to go. And then the magic came. No rerolls, the ball lands off field because of a gust of wind and Albus scores his second touchdown of the match after going for it 3 times (plus 2 bonehead rolls) while the five defenders were neutralized (3 at the LOS, while the blitzers failed a GFI after a missclick by J).

Apart from that, I must have fouled 6 or 7 times (breaking armor at a 70% rate, I guess) without a single snotling being ejected. Total dicerape, I'm sorry about it, J-Reedy.

PS: Note the -27 luck on armor rolls by J-Reedy (5/13 snotling breaks, 0/8 ogre breaks) plus my 74% block success. Sick stuff.

And Ull's Pasture has also been opened. Here's what happened:

2 first casualties were 2 dead marine mammals, one of them blitzer. Luiggi speculated that my blitzer's would be farming spp from the game, but it looked like Ogres were doing the farming. Managed to tie the game with 2 turns left but then couldn't stop the ogre onslaught with 5 delfins that were left standing. Mr. Dumbleogre had to make a bonehead and go-for-it to score, but that he did.

Here I thought being match up with you early would be an advantage... please tell me you are down basking in Nuffles glory for a while now... or at least until we meet on matchday 5  ::)

Commisserations to JR, though. That's a REALLY tough start to the season.

Hi

Sorry for my late reply have taken some time to adapt back to life in sweden and get into my old work again.

In theory I'm available from friday evening and the whole weekend for play. However, do I need to install Chaos Edition to play now? That could be a problem since I have not even bought it yet...

Mad Science Fair vs Warpstoned Maniaks: 2-1 in the least traditional grind EVER. Wild stuff everywhere on the pitch as the Skaven bashed, the Bulls did some agile moves and ball-handling and conservative coaches everywhere in the world sensed some disturbances in the force. I would definitely prefer earlier. I still have some issues with adapting to swedish time. Last night was the first night where I managed not to fall to sleep before 21.

However, in the interest of finishing MD1 in this weekend I can try for this time. Up to you, in the weekend I can play almost any time.

Title: Re: Season 9 - DAY 1 MATCHES
Post by: hakos on December 16, 2012, 10:34:24 AM
Seems the final match of MD1 is played. Nice.

Both Golden and me started by preparing our excuses for losses by explaining how new we were to our respective teams. After that I won the kick-off roll and decided to kick.

The first few turns were quite cautious from both sides and not that much happened. I played a line defense and tried to exploit my armor & strength advantage by getting close to his guys as much as possible while still forcing him to make as much dodge rolls as possible. The hobgoblins were slippery as eels and just seemed to run around as they wanted. Had to spend my blitzes on chasing them around on my half.

In turn 4 I got my chance when Golden failed a dodge very early in his turn. I could move in and position 3 guys next to his ball carrier. In turn 5 I got quite lucky when his early blitz to free his thrower ended in a double skull. Suddenly he was quite badly positioned after two early turn overs and I could rather easily knock the ball loose, pick it up and run deep into his half.

After that I only delayed the scoring until turn 8 to minimize his chance of getting KO'd guys back. It worked quite well and I could score 1-0 as the final thing in this half.

The second half started great for me since Golden was unlucky and didn't get a single guy back to being conscious. This meant that I started with 11 vs 8 guys in the field. And two of the KO'd guys were rats so the strength advantage was really good now.

I decided to to be quite offensive so I knocked down his LOS, and then tied up almost all his guys with my zombies. Basically I managed to put him into a cage with me outside. He when took his troll to one side and I could tie it up with a zombie and take the ball through in the middle. It was quite easy since I had the numerical and strength advantage and in turn 13 I could score 2-0 with almost his entire team on the ground.

Golden was eager to even the score a bit but yet again the dices failed him. He only got one guy back so I continued to have the advantage and as icing on the cake; I kicked the ball close to the LOS, got a blitz and managed to catch the ball even before he had started to move. I think he managed to get it loose but I got it back and in my final turn I could score 3-0.

Golden had one turn left and was quite eager to get at least some SPP but I can understand his rage when I got my second blitz... I thought I was finished playing but apparently not. Decided not to do that much. Golden tried to get some final injury and passing point before the match ended but no.

Can also mention that Goldens 4 RR seemed to melt away as butter on a hot summer day, which also made things much easier for me of course.

Post by: The Golden Arrow on December 16, 2012, 11:02:54 AM
Thanks for the game and report. I can add that I blitzed down his ball carrier in his first drive the second half and moved guys around the ball (troll failed his stupid test so did not move in there :(). Next turn I could blitz one/both his guys away from the ball (just a one die though), but failed the dodge with my blitzer. Otherwise the ball would be far far away...

Also second drive that half after his blitz I only needed to knock down his ball carrier and like one zombie and pick the ball up and he wouldn't really had had anyone that could have caught up, but I failed the dodge with my blitzer again.

The gobbos passed lots of dodges though so I don't think I rolled that bad on them, but they came in the totally wrong places.

True, I forgot some key dodge failures you got in the second half. Since I played very offensive I would definitely have had some trouble to catch you if you had got the ball.

By the way, can I UL the match to BB Manager or do I need to own Chaos Edition for that? Seems I have to select game edition and I do not know what to select since I use Legendary and you uses Chaos edition...
