Title: S15 - Match Day 6
Post by: J-Reedy on February 14, 2014, 08:56:39 PM
It's the day of the split, not a time to quit.
Five are are behind, five are ahead.
Stars are aligned for a good bloodshed.

All Righty, day 5 has been validated and ended, so it's time to move to day 6.

YO, EVERYBODY! Remember that Winter time ends on Saturday/Sunday, so most of you will change to the CEST/GMT+2 time zone on Sunday.

Hmm, looks like I have back-to-back orcs. So, Kvasilad, let's see if your black orcs have better armor than those of the Lasseman's. Here are my OK starting times (CET/GMT+1):
- Monday today 18-19
- Tuesday 19-21
- Wednesday 18-19 (would like to keep this free, if possible)
- Thursday 18-20
- Saturday, any time after 17

Let me know if any of those suits you, sir.

Mon and Wee are my least preferred days, but if it's gotta be those days... Today at 21.30 will work. Unless I come back home asleep, in which case we'll have to play on Wed at 21.30. See you in a few hours!

Hello Barmution

Seems we will have an interesting match ahead of us. I noticed that our teams share the number 1 and 2 spot for Most Goals, Most Passes, Most Receives and Most Rushes. Seems like good ingredients for a very mobile match with lot's of goals.

I can play thu & fri evening.

During weekend I can play almost any time, as long as I know at least one day ahead so I can plan accordingly.

GG Equilibri, it was a very tight match with plenty of KOs and nice, positional gameplay. Dice were pretty even (even though they gave me 2 sick agility plays that ended up being useless) and that helped to keep the match interesting and open. Enjoyable for sure!

This 1-1 tie keeps both teams in the fight for a play-off spot halfway through the season. There are plenty of teams contending at the moment so the final stretch will be exciting!

Yo Gurgeh!

The time has come for my mighty pirates to face your unholy wolves!

Unfortunately i have a pretty busy schedule this week.

These are the possible starting times for me:

Wed: 21.30-22.00 (its possible for me to squeeze this time to 21.00 instead)
Thu: 21.30-22.00
Sun: 21.00-22.00

If none of these suits you, maybe we can squeeze in one match on monday 31/3 as a reserve?

Post by: J-Reedy on March 25, 2014, 09:51:18 PM
- WELCOME YA ALLLLL! I'm Gron Grumbundy, and you're listening to the BLOOD SPORTS SPOTLIGHT! I know, I know, I promised we would be coming to you live from a random NUL league match this week, but unfortunately we arrived too late to the randomly selected match between the Fantasy Armor Inc, the team know for their extremely durable and sexy-lookin armor, and the mean grean orc team New Orc Gitz. Why in the heck did you lead us through those side-streets, Nippy?
- Sorry, mr. Gron, but I followed Whissy-Pizzy's instructions to the letter, he seemed so sure, that he remembered the best route to the stadium.
- Oh, well that explains why we sidetracked through all those... excotic dancer parlours. Well, at least we got to see some interesting sights. This seems to be very hilly region. Maybe I should visit here more often... BUT FEAR NOT, dear listeners! Although we arrived too late to set up our magicasting equipment for the live broadcast, yours truly did get to see the whole game and I can give expert recap of the action. Let's get to the point, the norse side won 2-1, and it was quite clear why. They simply had superiour armor. Those Fantasy Armor products just give them almost unfair advantage! Don't you agree, Nippy?
- But mr. Gron, there were six norse players knocked out when the orcs started their last offence...
- NONSENSE, only four of them were classified as knock-outs, two of them were exhausted from the heat as they had forgotten to wear Fantasy Armor Inc's Sexy Sunbather Shawl under their Wavylock Helms as rest of the team, and those knocked out players weren't actually knocked out, but simply passed out due to extensive pre-game beer guzzling! What else explains why they didn't wake up even though they had the BB cheerleaders trying to get them back to the game!
- But sir, I thought the orcs had hired the Bloodweiser Babe and not the norse?
- I didn't mean those amateurs, Nippy! Norse have the real pro cheerleaders, the big BB squad! Big Bongos!
- Oh, they are Whissy's favourites, he always buys a new poster of one of the girls from squad every week. He says the posters keep wearing out. I'm not sure why, Whissy has same kind of walls as my home and my posters don't seem to wear out at all.
- Nippy, how wonderfull it must be to be you. Such an innocent life you lead. But that just proves my point, it's a wonder that all those norse players came out of this match alive even though all of them must've been as drunk as a freshman wizard student after learning the Endless Wine Tap spell. It's just that those Fantasy Armor Inc products just keep them alive! And what agility it grants them! I mean, take that second touchdown, Luis Roy Oh shrugged two blitzes, blitzed himself two times and dodged three times to score the leading TD! It's all thanks to those Fantasy Armor Inc's Sultry Sneaking Sandals and Agility Enchancer Belt if I had to take a guess how he did it. All righty, as that just about covers the game, let's take a quick look at the NUL season so far. What has been the biggest surprise in your opinion, Nippy?
- Hmmm... Well mr. Gron, I guess it's that that that elf guy is the best killer with those two deaths...
- Murderproof, yes, well, you could argue that he has three kills under his belt as it was he who knocked himself down with that unfortunate dodge which resulted in the booted death of himself. He should've worn Fantasy Armor Inc's Sensual Elven Wear line that keeps all the delegate elfish body parts protected while enchancing ones natural sexiness to umpteenth degree! You are right, that is a bit of a surprise. And it seems elfs are bit cursed this season, just look at the woodies, Dendrology on BB Fields have been practically decimated as they lost their other wardancer and the another one has been crippled by a serious injury. It's just goes to show you that you shouldn't cinch on the important stuff, like decent armor. And I must say that Fantasy Armor Inc has proven to be the best armor out there, keeping all of those norse alive! Am I right, Nippy, or am I right?
- Amm.. You're right, mr. Grumbundy?
- Yes I am! All right, it must be time to wrap up the show. We'll be coming to you next week, from a randomly selected NUL league game, hopefully we can get there in time for the live show! Have a week, folks!

Well, my KO recovery problems continued but to offset that, I was lucky as a Nuffle's favourite grandson in a lottery draw. I just couldn't break the orcs' armor, but fortunately black orcs' had softer armor and most of them spent the first half being mostly stunned and one even got seriously injured. Kvasilad scored first and I followed with an short pass + gfi equalizer. At the second half my guys kept getting knocked out and it seemed I would lose the ball eventually. But then my Block-Dodge ball carrier took a blitz standing up, push-back-blitzed and dodged to scoring distance, took another blitz standing up, 1D push-back-blitzed and twice-dodged to score as effortlessy looking as a wardancer. That left Kvasilad with 3 turns to score and he got the ball to distance, but then my bezerker made a dodge-dodge-gfi-gfi-blitz and knocked down the ball-carrying goblin. Match ended with the sure hands orc passer failing to pick up a free ball. Sorry again for the dice Kvasi, I must say you took it like a gentleman even though those elfish plays must've been really annoying. Good luck in rest of the matches!

Thanks for the game, I must admit that those few last turns made me kinda sick though. I felt pretty sure about a 2-1 win, but didn't really anticipate anything worse than 1-1. Seeing the single dice blocks and dodging into and out of tackle zones really caught me off guard, and suddenly I was down 2-1 in a match I thought I had control of. Then I thought at least I'd equalize, but the carrier went down in a semi-probable event. But even that was fine, since I had a sure hands thrower who could dump-off to a blitzer and I had a re-roll to spare... but no. That was pretty depressing, I'll tell you.

Aargh, what a match, long time since I was so upset about the Dices. And Barmution was, if possible, even more upset.

Some high (or should it be lows) of the match:

At end of game: 13 elves not playing, most on the pro side, 8 BH, 3 KO and 2 ejected by the referee

Failed 2+, all on pick-up's or passes: 8. 7 on the darker side.

This was not an elf vs elf affair. This was a khemri vs khmeri affair.

Barm will fill in the gory details

Piece of trash match totally dominated by Nuffle's intervention in every possible way. Sorry for everything, Hakos. Truly one of the most aggravating matches I've ever played: Every vital action seemed to be screwed over by Nuffle, except for when we went for the insane options, in which case he let us succeed. FFS. So tired of these kind of matches. Dammit.
Title: Re: S15 - Match Day 6
Post by: Gurgeh on March 27, 2014, 11:45:11 PM
It's really late, so I will try to keep this short

Bad things:
Goblins made of rubber and/or concrete. I did not manage to injure a single one. One of them even tried to show me how it's done by injuring himself, and I still didn't get it.

Good things:
The dexterity shown by the larger players. At the end of the first half, with the score 1-0 to the wolves, a troll threw a goblin, who ran to the edge of the endzone with no player close enough to catch him. The last turn, before scoring, the gonlins decided to throw a bomb. What could go wrong? Well, the flesh golem could catch it and throw it back to cause a turnover. In the other half, after some fightning and pushing, a troll got hold of the ball. He had no idea what to do with it, but he could walk, and that he did, to score (probably) the only TD of his career.

The end:
In the last turn, without any re-rolls, I manager a handover and a pass to score the winning TD. 2-1

Good summary Gurgeh!

Thank you for a great and entertaining match, you really deserved the win!  ;D

Really loved the part when your Flesh Golem caught the bomb and threw it back on my trolls, haha, great stuff!  ;D
The greed took over and i wanted to chance to injure some of your players before scoring... i guess its called... karma? :)

Captain Blackbeard though, he's a myth, a legend, a touchdown scoring Troll! He did The Pirates third TD of the season and really gave The Pirates a chance to get a draw, a DRAW! But no, not this time. Really nice last two turns from the Wolf Hall team where they managed to outrun the gobbos lead them to a well deserved victory.

Congratulations to the win Gurgeh and good luck in future matches!

- Crinky! CRINKY!
- Yes, mr. Babblemoth?
- I've been listening to our Magicast. It's really helping with our marketing but is it true what Gron is saying? That our players are getting so drunk before the matches that they keep passing out?
- Well, they naturally do keep downing beer all day normally like all norse people. But it does look like they seem to get more intoxicated just before the match. I've been hearing ramblings that they do it because they don't like wearing our armor, they find it too skimpy, so they need to get so pissed that wearing our sexy-stuff seems a good idea.
- Damn, what can we do... Maybe we should cut down on the beer deliveries?
- Unfortunately our sponsorship contract states that we must deliver the team 100 extra-large-sized barrels of beer every week in addition to the unlimited credit at Madame Buxey's Parlor of Sweet Snugglin'. If we cut down on beer we would be in breach of contract.
- Hmm. Seems we're stuck. And we're playing those pesky elfs next. I hear they're as invulnerable as a love child of an ogre and troll clad in steel armor.
- The elves did shrug off almost half a dozen injuries in their last game.
- Damn, that match will be really important to show that our armor is superior. We need our guys as sharp as nails. But that's impossible if they're drunk. Damn, double-damnd, triple-damn!
- Sir, I think I have an idea that could solve both of our problems.
- What! What you're waiting for, get it out Crimpy!
- Well, have you heard of yhetees?
- Of course, nasty stuff, my brother-in-law got the yive-heaves in his bachelor party, in hindsight I admit that getting a budget stripper wasn't a good idea. Not that giving the heaves to my brother-in-law bothered me but I just don't find goblin strippers alluring.
- No sir, the yhetees that I'm talking about are those furry big trollish-like beasts that live near the most northern norse settlements. Some of the norse blood bowl teams have used them as blockers.
- Oh, those things, yes, I can see how one of those would help with bashing in some elven heads but how could that thing help with the problem of our players getting drunk?
- Well, it seems that the yhetees living in Finny Lands have developed an extremely high tolerance for beer due to the extremly high consumption of the stuff - even by norse standards - in those regions.
- Hmm, I see where you're going... But could one Finny yhetee really consume so much beer that it would sober up rest of our players?
- There is a yhetee from Finny Lands currently working at the nearby toxic waste disposal plant where they destroy all the stuff coming from Magic Universy labs, waste from troll outhouses and what's more important, all the spoiled beer of the continent. I hear that they just dump the molded beer to a big pool and the yhetee dives in and then in the evening the whole pool will be empty. Of course they have to use burp pixies and fart fairies to soak up the fumes that the yhetee keeps emitting but they say it's still cheaper than the previous system where they soaked the beer into pig carcasses and then either fed them to ogres or dumped them into their affiliate company, Delicious Delicatessen.
- That's it! Get that yhetee out of there and into our team, Crinky! No matter what the cost! ...I guess we can put him into our Big'n'Tall lineup, we need somebody to showcase those products, I'm hearing that the chaos team we're playing in the last round is interested in seeing the products in action. What's the big guy called?
- He is named Finnjävel.

Bantha, is it possible to start a little later, preferably 22 but might be able to make 21.30. It's earth hour and we planned to have it cosy and not use computers.

OK match played, it was really a game where we had one half each. He dominated the first half with superb block dice and some good damage rolls taking out two sauruses early. One of them got injured and the apothocary failed to bring him back (only became a niggling but still). In the second half I got better block dice and he failed a wild animal blitz with his bloodthirster that helped me get up the board and be in a good position to score. He managed to dodge into two tackle zones with a herald and blitz down my ballcarrier however which made things very hairy. I needed to do a few dodges and a pick up in a tackle zone but thankfully I made it and could run in a three turn TD.

After that it just became a big brawl where I marked his ballcarrier and some other players and he blitzed and blocked around and pushed both mine and his players all over the board (there were some vert nice chain pushes). He couldn't knock my players down though and I managed to get a two die blitz on the ballcarrier and knocked him down. A skink picked up the ball in a tackle zone again and dodged back behind some players. He failed to make a hole to the skink and I could hand off to a free skink and run the ball to the TD line and then walk it in the last turn.

It was a very close game that could easily have gone either way. It is very fun to play against Khorne as players can end up in really unexpected places (both good and bad for me) and it's always nice to play a tight game.

Indeed, a fun game finally without TO each other turn.
It looked good all up to that crazy turn when I just could not get your dudes down.

9 attempts on skink.. no Pow.
Then 6*2 2d blocks and no Pow or dodge/pow (sauruses targeted).
12 dices and no 5+ in other words.. one rr used to dodge a TO...

And then your 2d pow on ball handler no pickup on any bounce and your final pickup 6.
Still had a shot but first blitz never got the pow or both down followed up by a failed GFI for second try.

In the end a very fun game.. did not see that incoming with all those str4 guys.
So now I have got a better feeling for them as I could roll normal block dices, and then frenzy really helps.. almost a rr just have to backup with assistants.  ::)

I also learned a bit more about this gang of craziness.

Alright, one loss but with a good after taste  :P
And the Mvp meant a new skill on a normal lino could help a lot.

Cheers!

Guys, please add results in here so we admins know when to validate the games....
Sometimes it's not that clear unless it's a draw or one td diff..
Disco... happens and there is always time to replay in that case.

Thanks!
Cheers!

Looks like the match is uploaded to the bbm so I'm guessing the result is valid. But just to make sure (and because I don't have BB on my work compumachine), match has not been validated yet. So, as Mr B said, please always confirm the match result (at least the 2-0 result as that is the result that disconnection gives) in these match threads.
