THE LEGENDS OF BLOOD BOWL, ISSUE NUL18:3

Death! Yes, plenty of deaths happened during day 3 of NUL 18. 3 deaths to be exact. Or at least that is what our count shows, even if the league official's didn't count the death of the vampire. Perhaps because he was already dead? Anyway, we are happy to see that the players listened to our wishes and created some fun moments for the audience. Speaking of audience, we managed to watch 5 of the 6 matches live this day. Very entertaining and educational. Unfortunately we did miss the 3 dwarf touchdowns in one match. Still wonder how they did that.

Of all matches watched, one stands out with 3 of our 5 selected players performing stunning deeds in the same match.

#29, Value 100, The next impressive rat, 'Bernard Brie', have presented himself. Two touchdowns and one pass in the same match is of course good. But when one of the touchdowns is done in one turn it is definitely the highlight of the day. Not a mean feat to be able to move 13 squares in one turn with only 11 moves available. Apparently he sneaked into the opponents half in the initial LOS rabble, then catched the ball, did 3 fantastic dodges to pass the elven defense and then ran all he could, and really going for it, managed to get the touchdown just one second before the judge called of the first half of the match. This goal was also the difference between a loss and a draw since no more goals were scored in the second half.

#112, Value 40, An intercept is always worthy of mentioning and that is just what the thrall 'The Gutter' managed to do this day.

#3, Value 140, The coach told veteran player 'Edmund Emmenthaler' to take it easy. Which apparently means no touch down. Instead he focused on passing and made 3 of them, including the one leading to the one turn touchdown. It should surprise absolutely no one to learn that the agility of this rat is matched by none in the league. This is a rat that will continue to do amazing things.

#12, Value 120, 'Aeolus' is the main responsible for the deaths of the day. This elf blitzer was on a mission today to earn the hot title of snotling killer. And he was quite successful. 2 dead snotlings and another 2 additional snotling casualties means he is now second in the brutal category. Only bested by 'Hulk Hogre's total of 6 cas.

#28, Value 100, 3 pass in one match is impressive and this day we had two players who managed that. 'Rincewind', the runner of the dark elfs is the second one. And this was in the rat's vs elves match, wich means we had a total of 7 succesful passes in this match. Yes, it truly was an entertaining match. He is also one of only 7 players that have earned at least one SPP in every match played so far.

As part of the audience I have to say that the first half was one of the most exciting half's I have ever seen. Well worth the entrance fee. The second half, well, let's just say that I groaned a couple of times due to the fails at critical moments.

This was also the first time I ever have seen a one turn touch down. Finally I understand how it can be done. A very educational match to watch. Bernard might be featured in the next issue of "The Legends"...

First match of day 3 is played, and it sure was a nailbiter. The one and only touchdown was not scored until turn 16 and it required quite an interesting sequence of rolls to succeed. 2+, 3D block vs snotling, 2+, 2+, 3+, 2+. It took one RR to secure it.

The wrestling team played flawlessly, it was like it was scripted, and gave me only one single opportunity in the whole match, when they failed a snotling throw on their own half of the field in the first half. I got the ball and was within striking distance but Hulk Hogre put a stop to that attempt.

Hulk Hogre was on fire. Once again he hit hard and scored 2 CAS. The other ogres were also quite annoying and created one KO after the other. Since no one ever came back, probably a bit scared of the tough ogres I guess. I finished the match with 5 players on the field.

Luckily for me, there was one player in my team who was on a quest today. To hurt as many snotlings as possible. Aeolus managed to kill 2 snotlings and badly hurted 2 others so I was not totally outnumbered.

Thanks for the game Gnaarkill. It was extremely exciting. You sure know how to play those ogres.

THE LEGENDS OF BLOOD BOWL, ISSUE NUL18:2

The second day of NUL 18 has passed. We have seen lots of blood, some maiming but no deaths. What is this? The Noble Unarmed League? Overall, the teams seem to be very even matched. Only the human team has managed an unblemished 2-0 record after two match days. This means that this is an excellent place for an up and coming star player to make their mark in history, or the opponents face.

Now to the list of players that have impressed us the most this day.

#26, Value 100, 'Edmund Emmenthaler' continues to score. He is now up to 5 TD. Even more impressing, he is #1 in 6 of the 10 official ranking lists of the best players in the league.

#13 (#65 after day 1), Value 120, What is he, a runner, a thrower or a black orc? 'Sarge Pepper' is hard to classify. Although the orc's call him thrower he has only made one pass so far. He has scored 2 TD's by running all over the field. Only Edmund and Rincewind have ran more, quite impressive considering his MA 5. But after the heavy lifting he has done, he looks to be a better black orc than the black orcs themselves. No matter what, this is an orc to watch out for.

#1, Value 160, In the number #1 spot we (again) find 'Hulk Hogre'. Not as violent this time with only 1 CAS but a total of 4 CAS in 6 KO's is really efficient. And he continues to be good value despite his fat paycheck.

#12, Value 120, The rat team had a lousy day when it came to passes and 'Aeolus' is the one to blame for that. The rats failed 4 passes, much due to the pressure from him. He even managed to intercept one of those passes and get the ball, a feat rarely seen on the field of blood bowl. The MVP award was obvious after that.

#27, Value 100, 'Killy Turner' might be the most important player for his team. At least the professional MVP committee thinks so after awarding him the MVP two matches in a row.

Boy, that was a fun match, at least for me. I do not think either of us had control of the ball for more than 2 turns in a row. Because if we managed that, we scored. But most of the time we just took the ball from each other, back and forth.

Both of us had bad dices (negative 1D and 2D). Slightly worse for Equilibri. But the big difference in this match was the bad timing of his bad dices. He managed to fail 4 pass/catch in a row, despite using several re-rolls. And any single one of them would more or less have secured a touch down for him.

It was a relatively friendly match. Plenty of KO's. One death, bud the apo saved the storm vermin, and one badly hurt, with no bad effects, I think.

Two blitzes also contributed to the open match.

Edmund Emmenthaler continued to like the touch down zone and scored the rats only goal. From the elf side, it was more of a team effort, however, Aeolus who managed to intercept one pass from the rats were definitely quite an important player in this match. As said above, a successfull throw was not to be for the rats in this match.

Thanks for the nice game Equilibri, and hope you will have a merry christmas despite the loss.

THE LEGENDS OF BLOOD BOWL, ISSUE NUL18:1

Welcome back to 'The Legends of Blood Bowl'. Pre-season, an inital ranking list was constructed. Simply based on how much the coaches payed for the players. The list is updated after every day and some players will be selected and highlighted. Now we can start to see who were really worth the money, or not. The match to watch was clearly the OKWF vs Kauppaopiston Opet. 3 of our 5 selected players showed their colors in that match. And we are not even including the ogre who scored a touchdown in that match.

#1, Value 160, Alone at the top of the list we now have 'Hulk Hogre'. One of the most expensive players pre-season, and one of the few at the top of the list who really showed why they belong there. With 3 amazing 'leg drops' resulting in 3 casualties for the opponent he has set the bar for violence.

#7, Value 130, With an interesting mix of speed, agility and strength we find 'Angua von Überwald'. She managed to make her two injuries with such flair that even the opposition was impressed. She was also awarded the MVP for her team. Rumor has it that she is still improving and will be even faster next game. Clearly a player to follow closely.

#19, Value 100, The next player to really watch, and don't blink, because then you might miss a goal, is 'Edmund Emmenthaler'. With an amazing 4 touch downs in the first match, a record that will probably last for a long time, he is definitely a slippery rat to watch out for.

#58, Value 70, Here we have one of the big surprises of the first day. The thrall 'Little Bite'. In a match dominated by OKWF this thrall still managed to injure one opponent and survive. Not a mean feat considering that both the opponent and his own team mates are out to get his blood. Perhaps that is why he has learnt to run much faster? If he manages to survive he might be one of the surprises this season.

#102, Value 40, Talking about survival. The snotlings probably have the shortest life expectancy of all players. But here is a snotling to watch out for. In a match dominated by Ogres and Vampires, 'Jerry 'The King' Greenler' still became the most valued player of his team after injuring a player from the vampire opposition.

Despite several injuries, only one permanent damage were recorded. Overall it was quite a friendly start. We expect to see more blood soon.

THE LEGENDS OF BLOOD BOWL, ISSUE NUL18:0

Welcome to this special issue of 'The Legends of Blood Bowl'. As you know, 'The Legends of Blood Bowl' is dedicated to bringing you all the gory details about our, well, you guessed it, legendary players. However, in this special edition series we will focus on the birth of a legendary player. From his/her first steps as a completely unknown rookie on the field until the name is known by all of us. Standing tall, among their equals like Ripper, Morg N' Thorg, Zara the Slayer or Griff Oberwald.

We will do this by focusing on a small but thriving league called the 'Norsca Union League'. They have currently started their 18th season. With 12 teams, all completely new, with only rookies in their line-up it will be the perfect proving ground. A total of 138 players will be followed, ranked and commented on until we have found our legendary hero. Players hired after the start of the season will be ignored unless they do something extraordinary to capture our interest. Who will shine and who will fade away into the darkness of oblivion?

Yeah, checked the dice now in BBmanager, they were even worse than I thought. Both 1D and 2D.

Seems you got some Karma back after the S17 final.

BUT, it was not only the dices that made me lose. I played rather sloppy in the first half. Probably a symptom of not having played any blood bowl for about 3 months.

But overall, it feels good being back :)

The Phins start with a close grind win of 1-0, after some really stellar block dice.

Boy, it was fun to play these guys instead of orcs. Don't think I'm ever going back to the big greenskins.

Happened to watch the game live. Have to say that I really appreciated the llittle victory lap made by the skink at the end just before he scored.  It kind of summed up the game 8)

Lots of hitting in the mid field the whole match and then some skink taking the ball and running away from all the orcs to score in the end.
