And the week 4 gets started ahead of time, nice going everyone!

The deadline for week 4 will be Monday 24th before noon so basically try to get your games played on Sunday the 23rd at the latest.

Week 3 review has also been posted at the end of the week 3 match thread:

All righty Barm, time to see which one of us has the more lively girls. And hopefully none of my gals decide to jump teams mid-play...

I'm away for the weekend, so the earliest I can play is Tuesday. Here are my OK starting times (CEST):
Tuesday 18-21
Wednesday 18-21
Thursday 18-20

Let me know if any of these suits you, sir. Not sure about the next week's weekend yet, so let's see if we need those times.

Hello Luiggi.

As you might have noticed I live in shangai right now which means my timezone is GMT+8.

I have tested that I can connect to the BB server but my internet seems to be rather slow, will be interesting too see how this will affect the playability...

On weekdays I can play between 18-22 my time (12-16 swedish time)
On weekends I can play more or less any time, except that I'm busy this sunday 11-14 my time (5-8 swedish time).

Hope we can find a time.

Gurgeh, it would be great for me to play sometime this weekend if possible. I'm basically available from about 1800 CET today and all other reasonable CET times Saturday and Sunday. I'm slightly ill, so I'll probably just stay in for a few days.

Next week is looking pretty busy, but I can probably play on Wednesday from about 1800 CET.

Ok Lasse time for our chaotic showdown. I can play most weekdays next week (not Monday or Tuesday). Not sure about the weekend yet.

Bah... gonna need some admin advice here. We started getting net synch errors in turn 9, and it ended up in a complete desynch.

Situation was that I had 1 dead lino, 1 serious concussion and 1 badly hurt, so I was down to 8 elves at half-time. He had 1 elf KO'd, but has a roster of 12, so he fielded 11. The score was 1-1, and I had just received but fumbled the ball around the LoS when the net desynch happened.

Personally, I think I would want a rematch, but obviously I'm not too happy about my dugout situation, so I might be biased.

I have no idea how to handle it. But i really don't like to re-start a match that has gone on for so long, specially when I think I'm ahead. I'm just going to get annoyed that things are worse than the first time.
Title: Re: Match day 4 - Matches
Post by: tags on September 15, 2012, 05:01:48 PM
I understand that, I'm definitely not up for re-starting right away either. Tomorrow would be good, though.

I agree that the odds were in your favour, but not overwhelmingly so. I think 2-2 could still have been a plausible result. Let's hear what the others have to say, and decide later.
Title: Re: Match day 4 - Matches
Post by: Mr B on September 15, 2012, 05:38:08 PM
Sounds like a re-match to me.
Not much else'o do in this matters when clients breaks down every now and then.  :-[

As we are not in stressful environment lets make admin draw/win a minimum..
And due to this, just to be on the safe side always take a screen shot when having a disco or sync failures etc.

Any objections?
I'll head of and reset the match later this evening when reading outcome of this.

Cheers!

I did not take screenshots, but we did manage to chat after the first net synch warning appeared, so I don't think that's a point of contention here. Will keep that in mind for the future, though.

I'm happy to attempt a re-match tomorrow at the same time, for example (1600 CET), but can do other times as well.

I can't be objective in this, but I agree that a re-match is the most fair arrangement here. It is of course more beneficial for me than it is for Gurgeh because of the casulties, but I don't think that can be helped. I would feel an admin win against me would be very unfair, especially as I would probably have made another touchdown with the SPP that comes with it in that game (and probably gotten 1-2 more against).

Hey there, Hakos. I have a very busy week again because a friend of mine is visiting the country and I can't devote 2 hours of play until Friday. I'll come back at you to schedule once the day draws nearer.

Feel free to post your available times from Friday on anyway to see if we can schedule it.

Ok, as far as I know right now I have nothing planned after work from friday 21/9 and in the weekend. Which means I'm available from 10, swedish time, on friday and the whole weekend.

However, I will plan something to do in the weekend so the earlier you let me know your times the better.

Second time's the charm, we finished the game this time around :)

Gurgeh won it 3-2 after a very back-and-forth fifth drive which could've gone either way, very exciting game!

Yep, you had no chance with these dice (from BBM):
- D6: Ghouls -3,5 - Kittens +7,14
- Block dice: Ghouls 44% - Kittens 74%

Better luck in the future.

Ps. Match reports from the two previous Kittens match might follow during weekend if I find some time.
Title: Re: Match day 4 - Matches
Post by: Barmution on September 20, 2012, 08:58:58 PM
Actually, the isolated dice stats aren't so bad (I've had a LOT worse), one of the main problems was you inflicting 11 armor breaks, of which 3 were casualties (none who regenerated) and 3 were KOs (1 recovered), while I inflicted 15 armor breaks (several with Mighty Blow), 0 casualties and 5 KOs (4 of which recovered) AND I lost more players (mainly positionals) to the Sweltering Heat. Only my Mummies saved me from being totally overwhelmed and boy, oh boy did I miss having any player left with Block during that 2. half.

So I leave a Ghoul and a Zombie short and luckily none had any SPP and I can afford replacing them... all in all, it could've been a lot worse too, so I'll just simmer down and hope things get better next match  ;D

Title: Re: Match day 4 - Matches
Post by: J-Reedy on September 20, 2012, 09:28:43 PM
Yeah, I actually came back to comment about the stats, but you beat me to it. There were some ridicilous moments with the dice, like the turn where I made 4 or 5 dodges, 5 gfis and succeeded in every block without using a reroll and then the final play of the first half: I dodged through 2 tackle zones (2/6), made another clean dodge (4/6), blitzed down the ball-carrying ghoul with pow (1/6, although the chance of success was 2/6), the ball bounced out into perfect direction (3/8), flew back to good spot and then three dodges and a pickup succeeded - all that without a reroll if I recall correctly.

Ok, hakos, sorry for taking so long to answer, I've been quite busy. I have visit the weekend as well (hmpf, I just learnt about it yesterday) but I'll try to sneak away for two hours. Sunday afternoon/evening (18.00 to 22.30 gmt+2) seems to be my best option, I hope you can make it.

Those times are not that good for me. It would mean to start in the middle of the night (your 18:00 starting time on sunday would mean to start at midnight for me). I currently live in Shanghai.

Do you have any possibility to start earlier? It would be much appreciated.

If we must play during my night it must be on saturday. Then I can sleep on sunday. If we play on sunday I would be too tired at work on monday.

Post by: Luiggi on September 23, 2012, 06:02:39 PM
Well, that disconnection was a close call... fortunately we could still play. 2-1 for the elves.

We could summarize this game: Jordell Freshbreeze wins it by himself. He just could not be knocked down despite tenths of dice rolled against him, and he leaped and knocked the ball carrier tons of times. Good game, Hakos.
Title: Re: Match day 4 - Matches
Post by: hakos on September 23, 2012, 06:18:53 PM
Agree, good game Luiggi, quite even.

And Jordell definitely lived up to his STAR status. I think he managed to leap into my cage and knock the ball loose 5 out of 5 times. Also, in 9 attempts to knock him down, I never did. Too bad both my tackle guys were in the hospital already before the match, I could have used them this match...

Block, Dodge, Leap, Sidestep, AG 5...what a nightmare...

Also, I'm quite happy too see that my internet worked the entire match, this means I should be able to play most of my matches, which I feared for.

Excerpt from Blood Bowl Gazette vol 534 issue 13, p. 27:

NUL match week 4 recap by Fagronkey Nagrumbundyme.

Standings after week :

Welcome ya'all to NUL week 4 recap! We have a record match here this week to recap! I'm of course talking about The Partly Animals versus the White Fire match where the elf teams scored a whopping 5 touchdowns between them! The victors were the high-elf White Fire with a 2 to 3 score! The squirrels of war, as The Partly Animals are also know, fought bravely but this time the White Fire were simply more physical scoring 3 KOs against the wood elfs. Despite their loss, the Partly Animals still remain third in the standings, while the White Fire's win earns them the coveted 8th place as the final team to make the playoffs. However, there are still matches to be played and standings are likely to change many times!

Five TDs in one game. That's actually just only one TD shy of combined the TD count of the other 4 matches. The match with the second highest TD count also featured elfs. The team in question was of course the third elf team, the pro elf team Elfy Way that hosted a match against the human Getingarna. Elfy Way were physically outmatched but their star player reinforcement, Jordell Freshbreeze, came through and according to reports took care of the elf's defensive play single-handedly. With the help of Jordell the pro elfs managed a 2-1 win despite 2 casualties and 6 KOs they suffered!

No team from the first two matches recapped will miss any of their players in week 5. That won't be the case for the one team from the third matchup well cover. The matchup is the one between the amazon Cougar Kittens and the undead Material Ghouls. The amazons entered the game with 0 caused casualties but left with a total of 3 casualties, one of them being a permanently re-killed zombie and one a serious injury of the  ghoul Marilyn Moredough. The injury of miss Moredough is of such nature that the Material Ghouls will like drop her (height of the drop is not known). According to trusty eye-witness reports Cougar Kittens were also heavily favored by Lady Luck which helped them score a 2-0 victory.

Undead teams had hard time regenerating week. The Khemri team Drop Dead Gorgeus will also miss one player, their rookie Thro-Ra Satayat Khuath next week. DDG however managed to win their matchup against the norse Vinterlegionen with a close 1-0 score. DDG continue at the top of the standings. Vinterlegionen have had a tough starting schedule playing against both undead teams and the high-scoring elfs. Week 5 will take the norse team to the chaos lands where they'll bash up against the Chaotic Dudes in a match that could prove extremely important when considering the playoff-race.

On week 4 the Chaotic Dudes hosted the Nurgle team Sweet Sweet Decay. The game ended in a scoreless draw but the Chaotic Dudes emerged as the dominant chaos team by scoring 4 casualties against the 0 of the SSD. SSD will have to rest their rotter Shari the Nauseous next week due to a smashed hip. The chaos teams really must've concentrated on the physical play as the teams only moved the ball 34 yards during the whole game.

Here's the summary of the results from the week 4:

Week 5 of NUL is ahead. In regards to standings the most interesting matchup should be the meeting of the 1st place Drop Dead Gorgeous and the 3rd place The Partly Animals. There are no surefire high-scorers this week, as none of the elf teams play against each other. The most physically interesting game should be the Chaotic Dudes vs Vinterlegionen clash. Keep your eye on the ball and your fist on the face of the opponent and remember to stay tuned for more NUL news!
