Title: Match Day 7 - OPEN
Post by: J-Reedy on August 11, 2013, 10:11:26 AM
It's the final countdown:

Looks like we'll have a two or four times repeat champion this season as both the mimimun-wage and plumber rats will be making the finals.

Luiggi, Golden, decide among yourselves If you want to play the finals or consider this final game of the regular season the final match. I didn't check your injury situation, so I understand if either one of you wants a separate final game. A draw would naturally also have to be replayed because we must have a clear winner after all.

Hey there,

I don't mind either option, really. I'd propose the following:

A) Play both normally, the second one being the one that counts.

B) Play the first game normally. If there's a winner, he's the champion. If it's a draw, proceed to play-off game as tie-breaker.

C) We admin a draw now (if it's ok for the rest of the league) and go straight to the play-off, thus playing only the decisive match both with full rosters and extra-time if needed. I have no MNG and Golden has an injured Thrower, but I don't mind if he gets the free recovery.

Feel free to choose or propose alternatives.

As for my available times for next(s) game(s), I have just started working quite often and I'll be less available than usual. My best shot would be Friday (time to be confirmed though), but that might be too late so I'd propose Wednesday or Thursday 21.30 GMT +2 (sorry I'm so limited but I work from 10 to 21 and I have to get up at 7.30 :D So unless you want to schedule a game at 8.00 in the morning...

I'll wait for your news!

This week is crazy for me so I actually don't think I can play at all this whole week. That means that it might be better to only play one game so that the rest of you guys don't have to wait too long for us. I would prefer to have my full team, but the thrower isn't really vital (altough every rat counts, wouldn't you agree?) so it's up to the rest of the league if we should go for the admined draw or not.

Next week thursday would be best but I might be able to make it tuesday or sunday evening.

Okej so first game of last match day has been played it was between the long eared of Hakos and the short dudeds of Lasseman.
The stuided the last match the long ears played and saw that they are best played against after a good well cooked dinner so they hired a well know halfling chef. The chef did wonders and managed to steal all three of the els RR in the first half this made a mark for the first half where the elf tried to pass on the own side of the field and run down som catchers downfield, these elfs where treated as punching bags by the dorfs. The most of the elfs turned was cut short by a failed dodge and by the middle of the period a couple of elfs had left the field and the dorfs manged to get the hands of the ball thus making the scoring for the elfs a hard task that they didn't manage. first half ended 0-0.

The second half the chef failed to cook a good stew that resulted in only one extra RR for the dorfs and the kickoff result gave the elfs that RR back. The second half was mostly centerd around a slow moving dorf cage that was quite effectly slowed down by the elfs. The elf placement was so good that it forced the dorfs to do a risky manouver to the side almost over the half field this place most of the dorfs in possition to score in the las round but also a couple of elfs next to the ball carrier but eventually they managed to get the ball to the blitzer that scored the winning goal in the last round. 1-0 to the dorfs.

A really strange game. It seemed like Tzeentch himself had put a magical weird aura on the field.

First the chainsaw but the blade in his own head. (with one of the 7 rerolls the goblins had...)
This gave the elves a chance to score early, even if the goblins really made a great effort to stop them. (The elves made a strange dump-off that the game didn't seem to notice, so the ballcarrier got struck down first and lost the ball.)
Then the elves seemed to lose the ability to hit goblins. 5 (yeah, 5!) double-skulls in a couple of turns, and the goblins could secure the ball and score in turn 8.
The strangest thing was that the goblins bribed the judge to keep their Bomber, but in some strange way (a bug in the system...) the bomber didn't get to play anymore!
In the second half the elves secured the ball after a few bad passes, and then they could slowly advance and score in their last turn.

The goblins had one chance to score in 1 turn, but a failure to land gave the elves their win.

Strange, but really funny game!

BOMBER VANISHES INTO THIN AIR, REFEREE QUESTIONED

Not even lousy blocking luck of Equilibri (5 double skulls without rerolls) could hinder the darkies from scoring 2-1 victory over my poor gobbos. I myself started the match with double ones that sent my chainsaw gobbo off the field with a bad hurt. Seems he forgot trim his fingernails before the match and was just doing that when a yell from the gobbo coach scared him. Halfling chef I hired did a fine job, taking 2 rerolls from the darkies but that simply wasn't enough against even with Equi's bad blocking luck. First half 1-1. Second TD was scored at the end of the second half and I still had a chance for 1 turn TD. All went fine antil my gobbo tried to land from a toss by my lone trollie.

Weird game. Lots of bugging, Equilibri didn't get to make dump-off and my bombardier disappeared after first drive even though I bribed him back in succesfully. All in all a fun game but still, no gobbos for me in any serious league. This season the gobbos did just what I wanted: they kept me out of the playoffs race so I don't have to stress about that as I'm leaving the country next week for a month.

LUIGGI, GOLDEN: Admined draw and finals match after that is OK with me.

Gratz on the win, Barm, you snatched 7th place at the expense of kvasi. Hit those flings harder next time, Khorne!

Anyway, with the other 3 games played, I think we can settle the final now.

Since neither of us have too much time to play, let's play the final directly. Admin draw and head for the finals? Just so we can be sure of having extra time in case of a draw...

Saturday afternoon seems to be my best option, though I couldn't confirm the time yet (it would likely be between 18.00 and 22.00 GMT +2).

Thanks, Luiggi! I don't know why I got placed above Kvasi's Khorne with the same TD difference but I'll take it  ;)

Good luck to both of you in the finals, Luiggi and Golden. May the best rats win!

Heya, I just realized that in the event of extra time we'll finish a bit late for my needs, any chance at moving it to 20.00?

If you can't, it's OK, we'll do 21.00.

Thanks for an epic game Luiggi. Congratulations on the win, you played really well and deserved it even if the game could have swung either way.

The game ended 3-2 to him after 24 hard fought rounds and the game had everything from spectacular misses from both teams to awesome plays and even a one turn gobbo throw TD on turn 16.

Thanks for the match, Golden, awesome job with the Underworld team, it could indeed have swung either way.

WoW, 24 turns, very even numbers in all aspects, looks like a true final.

Congratulations Luiggi, well played, especially considering that you lost your rat ogre early on in the season.

Hehe, I think that might have been the key factor, nothing like a 150k GP worth of sacrifice in the second turn of a season to appease Nuffle and conquer the championship. Who knows, maybe with the Rat Ogre I would have performed worse, Big Guys are unreliable at times... Tell Golden about it: his troll decided to roll 1's in the start of two of my offensive drives, which left the way open for me to invade his backfield and split the defence. Not to mention it had to be him who ended the match with a failed GFI.

Anyway, it was indeed even. Luck swung during the game, from non-stop pows on both sides to double skulls and snake eyes at times. Armor rolls, KOs and injuries have also been pretty even, which contributed to a tight match. Golden made an excellent job at hunting down 2 of my GRs, though it took Deecut 4 or 5 blocks (of which 2 were double skulls) to finally eat that Ratpple Pie in the form of a Gutter Runner. Had he injured them earlier, the outcome would have been a whole different story.

For my part, I focused on the little buggers to gain some numbers advantage, but despite my efforts to remove some goblin annoyances off the pitch, they proved to be quite resilient. Same as my rats, especially considering he had two Mighty Blows while I had none.

Finally, considering how hard it is to play Underworld teams (I never tried them but to me they look like Skaven with no GRs combined with Gobbos with no Secret Weapons), Golden Arrow's performance this season has been spectacular, no doubt about it.

QuoteWell done, looks like it was a good match! Wish I'd had time to spectate.

You can still download the replay in BBM and watch it if you want. At 2x or 4x though, or it'll take you ages :P

Yeah underworld are like skaven without GR and gobbos without SW but you get mutations which almost makes up for it :P
