Title: S23 - Match Day 1
Post by: J-Reedy on April 30, 2016, 09:54:28 PM
- Nippy! ... Nippy! .... NIPPY!
- Wha? What? Who is that?
- It's me, Nippy, open up your window!
- What, is that you, mr Gron?
- Who else could posses such a dulcet voice, Nippy? Yes, it's me! Have you heard the big news?
- About the mishap with the costume deliveries where that Grouchy Nunnery of Non-Gentle Prunes got the costumes meant for Bouncy Bunnery for Gentlemanly Pleasures? Yeah, Pissy-Whizzy told me about that. He said...
- NO! Well... that is a big news... But I'm talking BIG! I'm surprised that your Pissy friend haven't heard about it. Brace yourself, Nippy!
- I haven't worn braces since sixth grade, Mr. Gron. Well, after the second time of sixth grade, I mean.
- No, I mea... Oh, how I've missed you Nippy. The big news is... COUGAR KITTENS ARE MAKING A COMEBACK!
- WHAAAAAAT! Are you serious, Mr. Gron!?
- Sure I am. And that's not the best part yet, Nippy! They're playing their first match... wait for it... against ANOTHER AMAZON TEAM!
- Not the Lustria Heroines, mr Gron? That would blow up any stadium!
- Sure they are. We can't miss this, Nippy. I've made an agreement with the Ogre Trolly Assassins, you know, the assassins guild that advertises themselves to be as stealthy as a mad oliphant playin a trumbone in a steel armor but who gets their job done because they don't care how many skulls they have to crack to get the job done if that is that the job is killing someone very dead and killed-like. Not the catchiest of slogans, but they're good and they've promised to keep me safe from any harm, so I'm making a comeback and I need you and your magicast imps! You with me, Nippy, or you with me?
- I'll just get me coat, mr Gron!

Here it is. The first of the season that will be the last of Blood Bowl 1 seasons. And we have a whopper of an opening week:

This will be such a fun season. So good to see all these teams that are a blast from the past. Mingling with recent up and coming teams.

Mr B: Seems there is a long weekend next week. I can play any time on thursday, friday, saturday and sunday next week. Does any time on those days suit you?

Yo well it's the kids that settles the limited availability.
Vacation or not. But sure I think Friday could work 19 GMT or 21 cest for kickoff.
Deal then I'd guess?

OK, some of you might've noticed that forum was out of commission for a while. Managed to fix it, knock on wood. OUCH! Who hit my head? Oh, 'twas me knocking. Don't know exactly what went wrong but some resetting and fidgeting did the trick. Onwards. You may disregard the message I sent in-game. Or not, if you know something about Simple Machines (got the name wrong), let me know either here or through the e-mail address I gave out.

All right, onwards.

Gnaarkill, how's about some gaming? Was busy during weekend, so I didn't give out any times in initial posting. But now things have cleared up, and here's what I have available on the CET (GMT+2):
- Tuesday 19-20.30
- Wednesday 18-21
- Friday 18-21

Let me know if any of those suits you, sir.

Wooo, Gron and Nippy are back \o/

So Snyto, I'm afraid my situation is quite the opposite. Tuesday and Wednesday appear packed, but I can play from Thursday and through the entire (long) weekend.

There's a chance I can play Tuesday evening, but hard to promise an exact time. I may be home around 21-22-ish and can try to squeeze in a game then. Don't know if you're a night person or a morning person :D

Anyway, failing that, I'm afraid it's next Tuesday at the earliest.

- Hear ya were at da ticketing office when they announced da NUL schedule. Did'ya get the tickets to'da 'zon game?
- Of course not! They hadn't set the time yet then. How could I get the tickets if I'm not sure about the time and if Imma gonna make it?
- Ya fool! It's 'zon versus 'zon, you make time for spectacle like that no matter what! I hear Barmy Bonkers is going 'though he has he's wife's funeral and daughter's wedding at the same time! And you would've gotten crazy money for those tickets, Barmy had to get his from scalpers and paid a fortune for them - poor fella, had such a lovely hair.
- Wow, didn't thing of that. Maybe I should go buy one now...
- Too late, they were gone the same day. And they announced the game time now. It'll be tomorrow, on Tuesday at 20.00 Central Entwood Time.

Hard fought draw for both teams. The big boys kept pounding at each other but the armor rolls mostly went the way of the Ogres. Sadly they got a bad case of the superdumbs at two pivotal times during the second half which made them unable to capitalize on their player advantage.

Thanks for a great match, Equi. Easily the most fair of the three we've had so far with these teams.
Good luck further on and catch you in the finals ;)

First match in S23 played for me and Mr B, and the first match in a long time with Humans for me.

How to play when facing a Wood elf team with two AG 5 guys? Apparently not as me...

DRIVE 1
It started well, with a Blitz and I caught my own kick. But the woodies took it back and scored anyway in their turn 3. 0-1

DRIVE 2
My turn and it worked as expected. Mostly. Got the ball, throwed it to one catcher and started a Cage in his half. He leaped and strip balled into my Cage and got the ball loose. However, I could pick it up and after some cleaning of the road I could even score, in my turn 4. 1-1

DRIVE 3
Don't remember tjhat much about this drive. Except that I got a Blitz again. But this time the ball was kicked too far away, plus, he had a better positioning, not allowing me to captialize on it so it did not matter that much. But Always nice with some free hitting and moving around. He pipcked up the ball, made some throws, made some agile moves to just run past my defense and scored in his turn 6. 1-2

DRIVE 4
3 turns left to score the equalizer. Tried again to build a Cage in his half on one side. got plenty of guys there and felt relatively secure, despite his ag5 guys. However, I had collected too may guys there and his fireball hit me hard, including removing my block tackle lineman for two matches. One of only two casualties in the game. he picked up the ball and made the usual elven moves to throw, run and score. The first half thus ended 1-3.

DRIVE 5
Second half, continued in the same way as last time, cage in his half on one side, but this time he did not attack the Cage but focused on building a wall. I felt boxed in so I tried to make the situation more open. Moved the ball and Cage into the middle and in next turn I put some guys in a scoring position and the rest spread out so that he also needed to spread out. And moved my ball carrier backwards, out of his reach I thought. He decided to go for my unprotected ball carrier but his Blitz guy tripped on the second GFI. Pheew, I missed that he could reach me with two guys. That meant all was clear, just needed to run forward and make a long pass, 3+, with RR, to my catcher and score. But the pass failed. he could pick it up and then score. So, instead of 2-3 which I as hoping for it was now 1-4. And the game was lost.

DRIVE 6
Last drive, he got a Blitz, the third one in the match,  and caught the ball in my half. I tried to box him in as well as I could and with most teams it would probably have worked. But his two ag 5 guys just throwed ball however they liked, dodged and leaped however they liked and in his last turn he scored. 1-5

So, most of the time both of has good Dices, nothing to complain about there. Except perhaps the low Casualty rate, so every single drive was played with full teams. His tree only got rooted once, I dodged like an elf. We throwed a total of 14 passes and only one failed. I only saw one double skull and it did not matter. At end of second half we still had almost all RR's left.

Nice match, Mr B, good luck in the future.

/Hakos

Nice summary H, indeed there were three blitzes in game 2 for you and one for me.
Your missed pass was a 4+which get me wondering if you actually beleave that your other passes was made on 2+ when they were made on 3+.. Just checking.
Its true we had good dices out there..
Apo failed of course when needed.

Again thanks and good luck now!

True, 3+ with -1 for LP so, yes 4+, but RR due to Pass so still a decent shot to succeed. /hakos

Of course... As all the 3+ attempts... Im amazed how often I normally roll double block witch also  would fail a 3+ with rr, but this game were special indeed.

And so ends the debut of the smelly gobbos with a bit of a toot out Nuffle's bum. The lizards got to start and quicksnapp:ed and rolled over the lines to get a TD down in the 4th turn. Now it was the greenskins turn to show their mettle and throw themselves at the scaly opposition... and then this happened:

A pitch invasion that knocked out everything that was over 2 in strength and KO:ing the fanatic leaving three little poor guys to stop the onslaught. Through a miracle they managed to stop another TD in the half and held their quirky thumbs for better favor from the almighty Nuffle in the second half.

The fanatic continued his nap, a troll decided to join him after tripping over his own toes while trying to beat a skink into the ground and in the end the lizards managed to put down another ball in the greenskin endzone to produce this result:

Thanks for the match Kvasi, a fair result considering Nuffle tonight, at least no permanent casualties, best of luck in the future.

Yeah, thanks for the game. That pitch invasion has got to be the worst one I've ever seen. I got off really lucky with both the chainsaw and ball'n'chain. Morg'n'Thorg was pretty solid throughout, but Nuffle really had it in for the greenskins in this one. May your fortune change when facing all my future opponents! :P
