THE LEGENDS OF BLOOD BOWL, ISSUE NUL33:6

Match day six ended in an expected loss for the Norse versus the radio enhanced lizards. Not easy to form a team on the field when a majority of the players are loners. The task was not made any easier by the lizard coach that did a masterful job and got his team to play like a well oiled machine. None of the six loners did a spectacular job, unless you count the two that failed spectacularly. Here are the details.

Snorre the lineman mercenary was hired to do one thing, soak up hits, and even that he failed. He got knocked out already in the first hit of the match and did not return until turn 14. In turn 16 he got the chance to score but was so surprised that he failed to catch the ball. A clear 1.

The other two lineman mercenaries at least managed to do their job. Ottar stayed 11 turns on the field and was knocked down four times. Hrafn stayed 8 turns on the field and was knocked down 3 times but he also did a lucky hit on a saurus. For doing their job and being cheap we award them a score of 2.

Unfortunately Uggi Frost was not available this time, instead the Yhetii Vagn joined. The first two turns he did not know what do and in turn four he was injured by the kroxigor. The apothecary did a good job though and patched him up again so he could play turn 9 to 16. On his second chance he was out for revenge, the kroxigor was down three times. He also managed to knock out the mighty blow saurus that wreaked havoc among the norseman in the first half. The grade is still only a 2 after the disappointing first half.

The berserker mercenary was on a skink hunt but they are slippery and not easy to catch so he only managed to get 5 downs in 13 turns. It seems the skinks were quite annoyed with him anyway since they gathered five players to kick him in the groin when he was down. The judge saw it and ejected the guilty skink. When not hunting the berserker managed a good position play and in total that earns him a score of 2.

Despite forgetting to sharpen his claws, Wilhelm Chaney was the best loner in the Norse team. He focused on chasing saurus and in 16 turns he got 12 players down. 11 Saurus and 1 Kroxigor. Turn 5 showed why he is a star player by getting two saurus down in the same turn. One of the few times he failed was when it really mattered, in turn 12 he got knocked down when trying to blitz the ball carrying skink and that sealed the match at 0-2. Considering that and only 1 knocked out saurus, no stuns and no injuries we are still a bit disappointed and the grade stops at 3.

All right Hakos, seems our antennas have been picking up an abnormal amount of Swedish disco hits lately, which can only mean one thing!

First chance of playing is probably Thursday 20+. Sunday before evening some time should also work. I'll be back with more if none of those sound promising.

Sunday sounds like a good plan. Any time is possible, just let me know what suits you. /hakos

Great, let's say 12:00 on Sunday then?

Ok, sunday, 12:00, it's a deal /hakos

THE LEGENDS OF BLOOD BOWL, ISSUE NUL33:5

What a lovely violent game that was. Norse versus Undead. In the end only 9 players remained on the field. Money, Money, Money even managed to get their first win. Even though it was a team work, two players really excelled. Regular member Ulfwerener Bang Boomerang single handedly prevented the opposition from scoring and then scored the winning goal himself. Ofc, the ground work was done by Uggi Frost who removed both the opposing Mummies early in the match.

The star player Helmut once again appeared in the starting lineup. One might wonder why the coach seems to favor him because he did not do much. First turn he stunned a zombie and then he promptly got removed from the game. Overall score is a clear 1.

The mercenary Yheeti Uggi Frost on the other hand showed just how good an Yheeti can be, despite behaving like a wild animal for three turns. In the remaining 13 turns he forcefully made sure 10 players got the opportunity to study the pitch close up. A total of 1 dead, 1 badly hurt, 3 KOd, 3 stun and 2 players down is quite an impressive record for any player. Given that he got the mummies out in turn 5 and turn 6 for the rest of the game he totally deserves the first top score given out by the Legends this season. Overall score: 5.

I'm sorry but I just realized saturday evening is not possible for me. But sunday any time should be doable. What about starting at 10? Or perhaps starting at 14?

When all is said and done, both times work for me, so let's go with 10 unless the later time works better for you.

Great, let's meet on the green field on sunday at 10. /hakos

Yet another goal, yet another draw for the enhanced norse team. This time enhanced with two star players and two mercenaries. The biggest cheer from the audience came when Morg N’Thorg entered the field.

Helmut started well with two stuns in three tries including one on the bear but then he was pushed onto his own chainsaw and had to leave the field. Rumors of his death are exaggerated though. Overall we give him 2 in score due to his three entertaining turns.

Morg N’Thorg dominated the midfield. He played the full 16 turns and was never down. Often he kept two opponents busy. He aimed well but not that hard. In total he pushed down 6 players deeply into the grass, two of those were stuns. 3 times the ST 5 bear had to taste the grass and 2 times the ST 4 lineman did the same. Only two stuns combined with his high salary sets the overall score at 3.

The mercenary Yehti had a tough day. After Helmut left the field the Yheti became the primary target and she had to spend most time defending herself. Despite this she stayed on the field the full sixteen turns and also managed 6 defenders down including 1 KO and 1 BH. The score lands on 3. Sort of a normal day on the work.

And finally we have the mercenary berserk tackle specialist hired to take care of the BBB catchers. For being a berserk he played a very controlled game and had the right position for all 16 turns. He also managed to get 6 opponents down including two stuns. In turn 7 he used his tackle speciality to get a catcher within scoring range down. In turn 8 his precision play really worked perfectly when he dodged, got the ball carrier down and the ball off the field, thus reducing the last hope for BBB to even the score and, as it turned out, made it very difficult for them to win. Considering his price, his timing and team play the overall score is a 4.

Hey Hakos, time to grab a handful of inducements and backhand my bouncing bolsheviks back into the basement.

I can play tonight (Friday) starting between 1900 and 2100, tomorrow between 1200 and 1500 and Sunday either early or late.

Any of those suit you?

THE LEGENDS OF BLOOD BOWL, ISSUE NUL33:3

Mamma Mia, scores the first goal for “Money, Money, Money”, what an unexpected success. Ok, with that out of the way, let’s check how the massive reinforcement of 3 mercenaries and 2 star players worked out for the fragile Norse team. We go from least useful to most useful.

Helmut and his chainsaw have so much potential but here he failed miserable with his first attempt and then promptly got injured by the Nurgle. Overall score is 1 just because 0 or negative is not allowed.

Eystein the mercenary lineman was not much better but at least he managed to stay 11 turns on the field and kept some nurgle players busy with beating him down. Several times. Overall score is 2 due to his cheap cost.

Snorre the mercenary also managed to stay on the field for 11 turns. He was quite successful in keeping several Nurgle Warriors busy for several turns. In the end he took a severe beating and left with some broken bone. However, his willingness to take a beating for the team earned him the most valued player award and after the game a contract as a regular player for the Norse team. We only give him an overall score of 2 though.

We do question the mental sanity of the “Money, Money, Money” coach when he invited Boomer to join in this match. Not easy to throw a bomb with disturbing presences all over the place. Boomer stayed on the field for 8 turns and knocked down two players for each bomb. Unfortunately in both cases one of them was Boomer himself since he just dropped the bombs instead of throwing. But a suicide bomber has its uses and we give him a 2 in overall score. He is cheap and kept some heavy hitting Nurgle warriors busy for some time.

The final mercenary was the Yheti. Unfortunately Flogging Molly managed to rip open his guts with his claws already in turn 0. The Yheti was patched up, returned in turn 8 and now he was angry. The second half he knocked down a rotter, knocked out a nurgle warrior and another rotter. Finally, in turn 16 he reached Flogging Molly and killed her. Although the pestigor managed to regenerate the fatal damage and will return to play again. 3 players out in 9 turns are enough for an overall score of 4.

THE LEGENDS OF BLOOD BOWL, ISSUE NUL33:2

We return to the Norse team “Money, Money, Money” that recently hired no less than four temporary players in their match against the chaos dwarf team “My Little Hashut”. Saitani’s reaction? “That is one scary lineup”. Did they get good value from their money? The simple answer is No, and here is why.

The mercenary lineman stayed on the field for 15 turns before getting injured. In that time he tied up one centaur or two random players almost every turn. Exactly what he was hired for. He was knocked down twice and failed a dodge once, creating a turnover. Overall rating: 3, due to his cheap cost.

The mercenary Yheti only managed to stay on the field for four turns. He got injured already in his turn 0 but thanks to the apothecary he was ready to fight in turn 9 again. Only to be knocked out in turn 11. He managed 1 stun. Overall rating: 1

The star player Helmut lasted slightly longer with 5 turns on the field before being ejected by the judge. We wonder why, he did not even injure anyone with that chainsaw. He managed one KO but also enabled the losing goal when he failed a simple GFI and became stunned. Overall rating: 1

The star player Wilhelm was not much better with 7 turns on the field with a very poor result. One stun and two turnovers caused is almost a negative effect for the Norse team. Overall Rating: 1

In contrast we can take a look at Marduk, the star minotaur in the opposing team. He stayed 14 turns on the field. In the first 7 of these he managed 3 injuries (both ulfwereners), 1 KOd (Wilhelm), 1 stun and just a normal block on Wilhelm pushing him to the ground. After that he took it a bit more easy and just knocked down some random norse players on the field a couple of times. Overall rating: 5. He won the game almost singlehandedly.

---------------

First half Saitani attacks but thanks to two random injured chaos dwarfs by normal Norse players I’m able to stop him. But Marduk thinned my team very effectively so in second half I was clearly outpowered. Despite that I got greedy and tried to do a handover in turn 9. It failed and after that Saitani just pressed on until he could score in turn 14.

Thanks for the game Saitani, you really got the most out of Marduk. Can you please report to BB2replayer and upload the result sheet here? I’m curious about the statistics. /hakos
