THE LEGENDS OF BLOOD BOWL, ISSUE NUL31:FINAL

Well, that was an epic ending to the regular season. First lizards versus kislev played 1-1 to keep the final hope alive for all four teams. Then the astronauts got their first victory for the season, to the dismay of the few remaining betting agencies, removing the favorite My Little Hashut from any chance of reaching the final. It is almost as if Nuffle had taken a personal interest in the NUL happenings. The wood elfs had some problem finding holes in the solid goblin team but due to some, normal, elf happenings they finally managed to win and secure a spot in the final together with BBB. Seems the last match ended with only winners. The punk rotters won the actual match while the owner of Dis Thing of Ours seemed equally happy at the demise of a goblin. Speaking of goblins, did you know that 9 out 11 dead players this season were goblins?

Now, let's focus on the final match this season, between Nimble Feets (NIF) and Ball, Bounce and Beyond (BBB)

Match 1 - Nimble Feets (Wood Elves) vs Ball, Bounce and Beyond (Kislev)
Both teams have had an equally impressive season with 4 wins, 2 draws and only 1 loss each. When they met each other the result was 1-1. NIF do top the ranking though due to better TD difference with +10. However, Kislev is not far beyond with +7, the second best TD difference for the season. This gives NIF the home stadium advantage in the final. The owners are probably happy as well since both teams have increased their value with about 50% during the season. Especially impressive for NIF since they had to replace two players and the NIF players ain't cheap. On the other hand, BBB is the only team to still have the original crew, which is also quite impressive.

Let's look closer at NIF. They are definitely the best offensive team with 16 touchdowns in 7 matches. That is more than 2 a match. Or, the same amount as the teams placed in 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th position together. It seems they do this with a combination of running and throwing, since they do this way more than any other team. In fact they have done more passes than all other teams combined.

Let's look closer at BBB. They are definitely the best defensive team with only 4 TD conceded in 7 matches. In four of their seven games their opponent did not manage to do a single TD. Another key strength for BBB is their flexibility. They do not appear at the top of any table but they are second in agile tables and also second in some of the bashing tables. This shows that they are capable of adapting their game style to whom they play. Finally they do have some chart topping star players, like Bonkers Bertram, "Mr. Sandman", and Brittle Brian who is the most "Eager Passer".

So, with all this data, what do our specialists say?
Bookie: "Draw in regular time, and in turn twenty BBB will win due to their extra RR."
Economist: "Most valuable team will win, which is NIF."
Fortune Teller: "Difficult to see. Always in motion the future is."
Crowd Expert: "Don't forget all the leaping, most successful leaping will win."

Congratulations to our season 31 champion: BBB and their coach Barmution who won the final game 2-1.

Well played as always Barmution.

Thank you everyone for the encouraging words about "The Legends". I hope it will return for the next season, and it will if just the editor has time for it.

Barmution

The bouncy bathroom buddies take the finals in a luck wise extremely even event (by BBReplayer's reckoning at least).

Tony the Wardancer gave it his all but was rewarded with a broken neck late in the 2nd half. Other than that a couple of linos paid the ultimate price, but that's the price of the fame and fortune rewarded to every potential BB star taking to the pitch.

The loss of Wood Elves on the pitch was ultimately the deciding factor but up until very late in the match there were several openings for the Woodies to steal the ball. The most amazing feat was probably Tony doing a strip ball after a series of insane moves (4+, 6+, 3+ leap, 2+ gfi into a 2d) but sadly it was not enough.

Thanks for the match, well played and sorry about Tony, Hakos.
