THE LEGENDS OF BLOOD BOWL, ISSUE NUL18:9

How many of you know Heelsworth? Heelsworth, you say, who is he? But the correct question should be: who was he? This week the normal reporting machinery broke down and we had to rely on old fashioned hard work to be able to dig out all the interesting facts we know you hunger for. So, it is quite understandable if you missed Heelsworth. He was a new lineman, preparing for several years and finally got to play his first match today, and you can probably guess in which team by his name. We wonder; are the players recruited because their name fits the theme or due to their qualities? Anyway, he was new, and he was killed in his first match, by an angry rat ogre. That was his 5 minutes of fame.

#6, Value 160, 'Edmund Emmenthaler' is officially our first emerging star. After a well deserved rest he is back in his normal fantastic form. One touch down and one pass is a passable result after an injury. Apart from being the most experienced player he is also the number one thrower in the league.

#75, Value 90, From the biggest star to a player that might have had his breakout day today. 'Karaz' the dwarf was the best pain giver today with 3 well placed punches, probably in the lower body parts of his opponent's.

#31, Value 120, And since we like pain so much we should definitely mention 'Jared Bloodrick'. After today he can call himself veteran. A veteran killer, that is, since he managed his second kill this season.

#19, Value 140, Another expert in the bloody art is 'Charlie Cheddar'. He has only hurt 3 players so far but with his hard hitting mighty claws we predict a blood red bright future for him. The only thing that might slow him down a bit is the fact that he also broke his neck this match. But who needs to be agile if you just aim to hurt? Given his devotion to give it all for his team it should not be surprising that he was named as the most valued player of his team, for the third time. What a way to become a veteran.

#43, Value 110, Normally we would not mention 'Hurricane' here since he was not part of the original rooster at the start of the season. But it is hard to argue when he is the best receiver in the league. 9 catches is what you could expect from an expert catcher at this point of time, but he didn't score his first touch down until today which meant he has stayed out of the spotlight. Today he was also named the most valued player of his team. This might be the start of something big.

I like the 1 week tempo. Sometimes it is slightly longer, which is ok, since some days are very fast instead. Perhaps we could be more flexible when we have big holidays? And I do consider "sportlov" as a big holiday...

Perhaps we could have a 1 week soft deadline and 2 week hard deadline? Meaning that we aim for 1 week and longer times should only be exceptions. While after 2 weeks the MD is just forwarded, regardless of how many matches that are left.

Anyway, I'm flexible but tend to lean towards 1 week MD's.

By the way, going off topic now.
Is someone by any chance going to this years GothBowl in Gothenburg?

Will be at GothCon but sadly not take part of the GothBowl. Will be very happy to drop by and say hi. I like meeting you face to face.

It was a chaotic match. It was an even match. It was a derby match between Hakos and Lasseman. And the result was even.

It all started with a pitch invasion. Lasseman started his first turn with 6 players on the field. After killing* one elf in the first hit of the match Hakos got to start with 5 players in his first turn. The wide areas of open space favoured the speedy elfs which managed to get the ball and mark all the dwarf players, except one. Unfortunately this one was a bull centaur which could get the ball loose. The ball bounced around and the elf got a 3+, 2+ chance to score in turn 3 but failed. After that the dwarves got the ball under control and scored in turn 6. In turn 8 the elfs got another 3+, 2+ chance to score but failed again. First half ended 1-0 to the dwarfs.

The second half saw a classic elvish 2 turn goal. First turn all elfs except the thrower ran into the dwarf half. Second turn the thrower cast the ball over the heads of the dwarf to Hurricane, the best receiver in the game and he could easily score.

The dwarf then tried to score the winning goal but barely got over the middle line. They actually got caught in a big mass in the center, surrounded by elfs and never advanced any further. Thus the match ended 1-1.

* The killed elf were later resurrected from the dead by the apothecary.

THE LEGENDS OF BLOOD BOWL, ISSUE NUL18:8

Ticket sellers robbed by angry audience due to cancelled match! The much anticipated match between the lizards and dark elves unexpectedly did not happen. The angry fans made a pitch invasion but only found the judge. The judge has not been found after this. They then drank some bloodweiser beer and decided to get their money back from the poor clueless ticket sellers.

Rumor says that the dark elves were affected by an amnesia spell cast by a lizard supporter and therefore forgot the match. How the match officials were able to decide which two lizard players that were the most valuable players in their team; Rumor does not tell.

#12, Value 150, 'Count Alec the Handful of Tacos' is not only the player in the league with the longest name, he also did more things worthy of a star this day than anyone else. With one touchdown, hurting another player and countless other good stuff done he was celebrated as the most valued player in his team. As a vampire should be.

#107, Value 60, It is not often a snotling is featured in this magazine. But 'Zeb Colsnoter' is a unique snotling. After being considered the most valued player, twice, in a team with five ogres, including 'Hulk Hogre', which in itself is noteworthy. We now predict this snotling will continue to surprise us all with feats involving great agility.

#26, Value 120, As some readers have noted, and clearly reminded us of. There has been a shortage of dwarfs being mentioned here. We have compiled a short list of noteworthy dwarves and found 'Ulraz' the BeerBelly blitzer at the top. However, there is nothing short about his impressive list of noteworthy deeds. One touchdown, two MVP's, 4 players seriously hurt and 1 more killed. That makes him appear in 3 of the official top 10 lists. Clearly a dwarf you would be shortsighted to ignore.

#48, Value 100, 'Timmy Tiny Toes' is one of those players that may not have a flashy position but is so important for his team. Keeping away the oppositions big brutal players from his own teammates and manning the LOS, he has already been injured twice, but is now also the first player to be named as the most valuable player of his team, 3 times.

Just for the record. I do not mind if this match day is prolonged with up to one week. Due to the "sportlov" in sweden and other vacations that have been announced in good time.

A bit late due to some angry dwarves that completely demolished the printing press due to not being mentioned any time so far. A mistake from our side that will be rectified shortly.

THE LEGENDS OF BLOOD BOWL, ISSUE NUL18:7

The warm-up phase is behind us. No mercy is shown any more. This was definitely the toughest day so far. A total of 5 players were killed, 4 more got permanent damages. 7 were just badly hurt, which of course is to be expected then you sign the contract. Two of the dead ones truly gave it all for their team and earned the most valued player award, post-mortem.

Not even the best players in the league were spared with one veteran killed, Lord Wellingtons, and another veteran, Edmund Emmenthaler, badly hurt. In total the rat team, that has been performing really well so far, was the team hurt the most. They will only be able to field 6 healthy player's next game. Will they be able to come back from this?

#47, Value 100, The lizard team continues to impress and the deadliest player on their team today is the aptly named 'Jared Bloodrick'. With 3 causalties, one a clean kill, in just one match he impressed enough to be featured here. On the other hand, he is a bit uneven, every second match he does nothing and the rest he shines.

#25, Value 120, If Jared's performance is a bit up and down. 'Rincewind' is quite the opposite. He is now one of only two players that have managed to do something worthy of a star every match. The other one is Killy Turner. Perhaps day 3 was Rincewind's best day when he managed to do 3 passes in a single match. The only player to match that is Edmund.

#56, Value 90, 'Noshow Moreno' has been a quiet fellow so far. But perhaps he has been inspired by his teammates. Today he was awarded the most valued player award in the lizard team after scoring an important touch down. And with a speed equaling even a gutter runner, this little skink might very well do much more in the future. If only he manages to protect his niggling achilles heel.

#74, Value 80, 'The Gutter' strikes again, and he strikes hard. Last week he made 3 cas and 1 td. This week he made 3 cas and even managed to kill a gutter runner. This thrall is rapidly becoming the star of the vampire team. We wonder what the vampire's think about that. Aren't they supposed to be the evil, deadly guy that everyone is afraid of?

Kauppaopiston Opet for the WIN!
<cut>
there were only six High Elves on the pitch
<cut>

Good description, although it was only 5 players on the pitch for me in turn 13.

Thanks for the game, it sure was an entertaining, back and forth show. I had good dices, can't complain, clearly better than average. Kezerk on the other hand had fantastic dices. That combined with both our tendency to like flashy and fancy plays made for a crowd pleasing, chaotic but perhaps not always flawless game.

Started good for me with a quick score in turn 3 and a blitz after that and captured my own kick. Lost the ball and tried to do too much fancy stuff so I had to be satisfied with just stopping his equalizer.

In the second half  his tough thrall armor combined with my paper thin good-for-nothing armor made it impossible for me to defend and he score the equalizer in turn 13.

Last drive, I was the receiver, but a perfect defense combined with a kick that ended up on the LOS made it quite difficult. Could get the ball with fancy elvish plays but not into safety. He pushed my player with the ball into the crowd (should probably have made one GFI to avoid that) and it bounced badly into his half. It was not a given for him to score though, he had to run quite a lot, pass block and dodge but managed to get 2-1 in the final turn.

Congratulations to your first win. I clearly need to learn more about how to play against vampires.

The OCC game starts at 1800 CET, so it should be over by 2000 CET; 2100 CET by the latest.  So yes. 2000 CET or so is doable.

Ok, I will start to check in here from 20 and at least each quarter until 21. See you.

Hullo Hakos.

How's your schedule?

I'll be busy this evening (OCC match at 17 EET/16 CET), and will be OOT from noonish to 1700 EET/11-16 CET) tomorrow. Other than that, I'll be around for the weekend. Monday evening I'm booked, and I have a big deadline on Wednesday (which means I'll most likely be busy working on Tuesday).

I'm available any time on sunday
